  • Attention Students Applying for a BSN Program:
Students attending public colleges/universities in Texas are encouraged to review course equivalencies via the Texas Common Course Numbering System website (TCCNS.ORG).

After using the dropdown box and selecting the public Texas school you attend(ed), you will find the required prerequisites we have detailed on the Nursing School website (List of Required Prerequisite Courses) in the left column. The equivalent course from your school is in the right column.

For example, please review the English I/II example from Texas A&M University below. ENGL 1301 & ENGL 1302 are required for entry into UT Health San Antonio's BSN programs. Texas A&M University's equivalent course to ENGL 1301 is ENGL 103 Intro to Comp and Rhet. The equivalent course for ENGL 1302 is ENGL 104 Composition and Rhetoric.
You have to earn a C or better for each required prerequisite course, and courses must be from regionally accredited schools and meet the minimum required semester credit hours.

    Attention Alamo College Students:
We encourage you to review your unofficial transcript (via your ACES portal) and create a checklist of completed courses using the prerequisite courses chart provided on the SON website as the prefixes, course numbers, and names of courses at the Alamo Colleges are generally the same as what is on the chart. This method will help you keep track of what courses you have completed and what courses you are missing.
